Decorating at height without the mess

Most decorating jobs are not high — they are awkward. Landings, stairwells, double-height hallways, shop interiors with a mezzanine. What you need is a level platform in a tight footprint, not a bigger ladder.

Towers we hire to decorators

Single width, 750mm

Goes through a standard 762mm doorway. Ideal for hallways, landings and side returns where a twin-width tower simply will not fit.

Folding tower

Fastest set-up we hire. Folds flat, fits in a transit, opens in under ten minutes. Right for jobs where you are moving between rooms or properties.

Stairway tower

A full internal staircase instead of a ladder frame, so you go up with both hands free and carry tools without climbing one-handed. It stands on level ground like any other mobile tower — it is for climbing comfortably, not for standing over a staircase.

Protecting the property

Towers arrive clean and inspected. Castors are non-marking, and we can supply the tower without stabilisers deployed for indoor use where the footprint is critical — ask when you book.

Hire terms

Minimum hire is one week. The weekly rate falls the longer you hire — four weeks works out noticeably cheaper per week than four separate one-week hires. If the job overruns, call us before the collection date and we will extend it.

Which tower is quickest to set up between jobs?

The folding tower. It travels as one folded frame rather than a pile of components, so there is nothing to sort on arrival and nothing to lose between properties. If your day is four short calls rather than one long one, the setup time is most of the cost.

Will a tower fit through a normal internal door?

A 750mm wide tower will. A standard UK internal door is around 762mm, so the 750mm platforms — folding, single width and the narrow mobile towers — pass through. A 1.35m platform will not; the components go through but the assembled tower does not.

Can two decorators work from the same tower?

On a 2.5m x 1.35m platform, comfortably. On a 750mm platform it is tight and there is nowhere to put anything down. If both of you are cutting in at height at the same time, the wider deck is worth the ground space — but remember it will not come through the house.

What about a stairwell or a landing?

Standard towers are not designed to stand on a flight of stairs, and neither is our stairway tower — that one is a normal mobile tower you climb by stair instead of by ladder. Working over a flight needs a tower with independently adjustable legs, which we do not currently carry; call us and we will say so. For a landing with a flat floor, a compact 1.2m x 0.75m tower is usually the right answer.

Will the tower mark walls or floors?

The castors are rubber-tyred and the frame is aluminium, so the tower itself is not the problem — moving it carelessly is. Most decorators put boards or a dust sheet under the castors on finished floors and keep the frame a hand's width off the wall. That is about protecting your own work rather than a condition of hire.

Is a week too long for a two-day job?

A week is our minimum, so a two-day job is charged as one week. That is how the price on every tower page is worked out, so there is no surprise at checkout. If you can group two short jobs into the same week, you pay once.
