REPOSITION UNLOCK CASTORS MOVE IT EMPTY LOCK AND CHECK NEVER MOVE A TOWER WITH ANYONE ON IT

What leaves the yard and what you are told about it are both in our control.

Our side of the bargain

Every tower is inspected before it leaves. Frames, braces, platforms, guardrails, toeboards and castors are checked on every turnaround. Anything bent, cracked, worn or missing comes out of service.

Every tower meets EN 1004-1. That is the European standard for mobile access and working towers. Components are not mixed between systems.

Every tower ships complete. Guardrails, toeboards and stabilisers are part of the hire, not an upsell. A tower without them is not a tower we will hand over.

We will tell you when a tower is the wrong answer. If the job needs edge protection, a full scaffold or a MEWP, we would rather say so than take the hire.

Your side

Working at height is regulated by the Work at Height Regulations 2005. When you hire a tower, the duty to use it safely sits with you.

  • Anyone building, altering, moving or dismantling the tower should be **PASMA

trained**, or working under the direct supervision of someone who is

  • Follow the manufacturer's assembly sequence supplied with the tower
  • Deploy stabilisers and lock the castors before anyone climbs
  • Never move a tower with a person or materials on the platform
  • Keep within the safe working load on the manufacturer's plate — that includes the people
  • Inspect the tower before each use and after anything that could have affected its

stability

  • Stop work in high wind: come off a free-standing tower at around 17mph, dismantle

or tie down at 25mph

Advanced Guardrail

Our AGR towers fit the guardrail from the platform below, so the operative is never on an unprotected level during assembly or dismantling. On managed sites this is usually what the principal contractor expects to see in the method statement.

Certification

See our certifications page for the standards our equipment is built and maintained to.

Reporting a problem

If a tower arrives with a component you are not happy with, stop and call us on +44 7366 166 658. We will replace it. Do not improvise with parts from another system.

Read the scaffold tower safety guide for detailed guidance on safe use.

How we keep towers safe to hire

Two things are in our control: what leaves the yard, and what you are told about it.

Before it leaves

Inspection on every turnaround

Each tower is checked when it comes back and again before it goes out. Anything that fails leaves the fleet. Guardrails, toeboards and stabilisers are counted as part of that check, not treated as accessories.

The guide comes with the tower

The manufacturer assembly guide for your model is supplied with the hire, and the load information is on the plate fitted to the tower. Please work to those rather than to a figure quoted over the phone — that is the only version we can stand behind.

Who is responsible for what

Worth being plain about, because it is the question that causes arguments after an incident.

Us

Equipment fit to use

Inspected towers, complete component sets, the manufacturer assembly guide, and honest answers about what a tower will and will not do.

You

Use and inspection on site

Building to the sequence, inspecting before use and after any alteration, and making sure whoever builds it is PASMA trained or directly supervised.

Optional

We build it instead

If nobody on your team is trained, add the installation service at booking and we assemble on delivery and dismantle at collection.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need PASMA training to hire?

To hire, no. To build, alter, move or dismantle a tower, you should be PASMA trained or working under the direct supervision of someone who is. If nobody on your team is, add our installation service at booking and we will build and dismantle it for you.

What should I check before every use?

That the tower is on firm level ground, the castors are locked, the stabilisers are fitted and in contact, the guardrails and toeboards are in place on the working platform, and nothing has been altered since it was built. Check again after anything that could have affected stability. The assembly guide supplied with the tower sets out the full sequence.
