Standards our towers meet

EN 1004-1

The European standard for mobile access and working towers made of prefabricated elements. It covers materials, dimensions, loads and the safety requirements a tower must meet. Every tower in our fleet complies.

EN 1004-1 replaced the older EN 1004:2004. Towers are classified by load class and height. The load class and the safe working load for the tower you hire are on the manufacturer's plate fixed to the tower and in the assembly guide supplied with it. If you need the figure before you book, call us and we will read it off the model.

PASMA

The Prefabricated Access Suppliers' and Manufacturers' Association sets the industry standard for tower assembly and training in the UK. Anyone building, altering or dismantling a tower should be PASMA trained. Every tower is supplied with the manufacturer's assembly guide.

Work at Height Regulations 2005

The UK regulations that govern all work at height. They put the duty on the employer or self-employed person doing the work to plan it, use suitable equipment, and make sure the people doing it are competent.

Hiring a certified tower does not transfer that duty to us — it stays with you. What we can do is make sure the equipment is right and complete.

Our documentation

We can supply the following on request, at no charge:

  • Equipment inspection records — every tower is inspected on turnaround
  • EN 1004-1 conformity information
  • Manufacturer's assembly instructions for your RAMS

If your site file needs something that is not on this list — an insurance certificate, an accreditation reference, a specific conformity document — ask us before you book. We will tell you straight away whether we hold it. We would rather say no on the phone than leave you short on the day of an audit.

Every tower is supplied with the manufacturer's assembly guide, and you can read it before you book:

It covers the build sequence, where the stabilisers go, and the checks to make before anyone climbs. Anyone building, altering, moving or dismantling a tower should be PASMA trained or working under the direct supervision of someone who is.

If you would rather not build it yourself, we can erect and dismantle it for you — add the option when you book.

Inspection records

Every tower is inspected on turnaround. If your compliance process needs a written record of that inspection to accompany the tower, tell us when you book and we will supply it.

Our rule

No certificate number, no claim

Plenty of hire sites list accreditation logos without a reference number or a scope. We publish a claim only when we hold the document behind it, because a site manager who checks and finds nothing has every right to distrust the rest of the page too.

Can I have a copy for our site file?

Yes. Ask when you book, or contact us with the tower you are hiring, and we will send the manufacturer's documentation for that model the same working day.
